Design Technology Technician

Reeson Education is seeking a highly organized and practical Design Technology graduate or specialist to join our team as a Design Technology Technician. This is a permanent contract opportunity starting in October 2024.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support to the Design & Technology Faculty, ensuring the practical needs of teaching staff are met, and maintaining a well-organized and accessible Design Technology resource room.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the technical service to the Design & Technology Faculty is provided in accordance with School schemes of learning.
  • Work cohesively with a team of Design Technology Technicians to maintain a high standard of service.
  • Ensure all Design Technology equipment is well maintained and up-to-date.
  • Conduct stocktaking of resources within Design Technology to ensure minimum stock levels.
  • Support wider school activities such as open days and events.
  • Attend faculty meetings to brief staff on new equipment or practical ideas.
  • Dispose of waste materials and maintain a safe and secure working environment.
  • Participate in the development of Design Technology Faculty's practical and technical facilities to meet teaching/learning needs.
  • Maintain and arrange for the maintenance and repair of Faculty apparatus and equipment.
  • Prepare apparatus, materials, and set up equipment and apparatus for use in practical classes.
  • Set up and conduct demonstrations as required.
  • Retrieve and clean away apparatus, etc., after use.
  • Construct and modify apparatus as needed.
  • Ensure the practical requirements of practical examinations/assessments are met.
  • Ensure satisfactory standards of safety and security are maintained in accordance with School/Borough policy.
