Job Description


We are seeking a skilled Senior Public Health Officer to join our team. As a key member of our Public Health and Communities Hub, you will play a crucial role in leading and supporting projects and programmes aimed at improving health outcomes for our residents.


Your primary responsibilities will include:



  • Leading commissioning activity across the cycle, working collaboratively with internal and external partners to build on community strengths and evidence-based practice;
  • Working under the direction of Public Health Managers to develop and implement strategies to improve health outcomes;
  • Providing expert advice and guidance to colleagues and stakeholders on public health matters;
  • Collaborating with other teams and organizations to promote health and wellbeing initiatives;
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with local communities and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and engagement.

Requirements and Qualifications


To be successful in this role, you will need:



  • A strong background in public health, with experience of working in a commissioning environment;
  • Proven project management skills, with the ability to work flexibly and build constructive relationships with people at all levels;
  • The ability to work autonomously, with minimal supervision, and as part of a team;
  • An understanding of the determinants of health and their impact on public health outcomes;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and audiences.
