Electrical Engineer - Project Lead

Kenton Black Ltd is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead key aspects of our Power & Renewables projects. As a Project Lead, you will manage T&D projects from tendering to handover, ensuring successful delivery on time and to budget.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Produce and review primary plant layouts for MV & HV substations, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  2. Manage sub-contracting of specialist design/studies, maintaining effective communication with stakeholders.
  3. Resolve technical issues promptly, providing expert guidance to project teams.
  4. Produce and review equipment specifications for HV Plant, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  5. Act as Owners' Engineer for MV & HV substation/Cable and OHL projects, providing technical expertise.
  6. Provide HV design input for renewable energy projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  7. Coordinate with client project teams and internal disciplines, ensuring seamless project execution.
  8. Attend site surveys, FAT, and SAT as required, maintaining a safe working environment.
  9. Manage and mitigate commercial risk, ensuring project profitability.
  10. Handle internal procurement and maintain audit trails, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  11. Prepare technical submittals for client approval, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  12. Work with project PM, civil engineer, and QS on sub-contract packages, ensuring effective project delivery.
  13. Ensure correct operation and successful handover of plant on site, meeting client expectations.
  14. Monitor project progress against the construction programme, identifying and mitigating potential risks.
  15. Notify project QS of variations, ensuring accurate project costing.
  16. Prepare and hand over safety documentation at project end, ensuring a safe working environment.
  17. Undertake testing, fault investigation, and rectification, providing expert technical support.
  18. Provide technical support and direction to project team members, promoting a positive safety culture.

Project Management

  1. Review and manage the project from inception to handover, ensuring successful delivery.
  2. Hold regular meetings with the supply chain and client to maintain progress, ensuring effective communication.
  3. Develop the project-specific quality plan, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

People Management

  1. Review resource allocation and progress with the project manager, ensuring effective project execution.
  2. Motivate the project team, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.

Requirements

  1. 3rd level qualification in Electrical Engineering, with a strong understanding of HV and LV electricals.
  2. Proven track record of delivering projects on time and to budget, with a strong focus on commercial risk management.
  3. Strong IT skills, with experience in project management software and tools.
  4. Drivers License, with a clean driving record.
