Job Overview

Barts Health NHS Trust invites applications for a Consultant Cardiologist position in the Specialised Cardiology directorate at the Barts Heart Centre. The successful candidate will join a team of experienced cardiologists and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Main Duties

The post holder will be responsible for the care of patients with inherited cardiac conditions, including diagnosis, risk stratification, and management. They will also participate in research programs, develop their own interests and sub-specialties, and contribute to the development of the department.

Person Specification

  • MB BS or equivalent
  • MRCP or equivalent
  • Higher degree, e.g. MD/PhD
  • CCT or within 6 months of date of interview
  • Entry on the General Medical Council (GMC)

Desirable Criteria

  • Demonstrates a commitment to the highest ethical and professional values and a belief in government-funded healthcare
  • Experience in training undergraduates and postgraduates
  • Knowledge and understanding of inherited and inflammatory cardiomyopathy

Job Plan

The job plan is anticipated to contain 10 Programmed Activities per week, with approximately 8 PAs (direct clinical care) per week and 2 SPAs (supporting) when averaged through the year. The post holder will be expected to discuss and agree a detailed job plan with the Clinical Director and Clinical Academic Group Director within 3 months of their start date.
