Job Overview

Role Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Product Safety Engineer to join our Product Integrity Team at BAE Systems. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and integrity of our products and services throughout their engineering lifecycle.

About the Role:

  • Liaise with customers to agree delivery timescales and allocate tasks to suitably qualified team members.
  • Generate and evaluate safety assessments for aircraft, systems, and sub-systems to ensure compliance with safety certification requirements.
  • Develop and maintain hazard logs for platforms and support products, and generate safety assessments and design justifications.
  • Review certification evidence and generate safety certification arguments to assert the acceptability of product design.
  • Collaborate with senior technical leaders and external stakeholders to ensure the airworthiness and product integrity of our products.

Key Skills and Experience:

Essential:

  • HND/HNC/Degree or equivalent in a STEM subject, or relevant experience.
  • Safety engineering experience, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
  • Strong self-motivation and effective communication skills.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge and experience in aerospace/aeronautical engineering, systems, or mechanical engineering and safety engineering in a military airborne platform design environment.
  • Working knowledge of safety standards, such as UK Regulatory Framework, Def-Stan 00-55/00-56, and Mil-Std-882.
  • Experience with safety toolsets, such as Fault Tree Analysis and Goal Structured Notation.
