Job Title: Acute Care Nurse

We are seeking an experienced Acute Care Nurse to join our Integrated Tissue Viability Service at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust. This is a temporary 12-month contract to cover maternity leave, providing an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and expertise in wound care.

About the Role

As an Acute Care Nurse, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, and evaluating nursing care for patients with non-complex wounds, lower limb wounds, or follow-up reviews for patients with complex wounds. You will work closely with the Tissue Viability Team to develop your knowledge and skills in wound management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and plan nursing care for patients with wounds, implementing and amending plans as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of wound care and tissue viability principles.
  • Collaborate with the Tissue Viability Team to provide education and support to clinical colleagues.
  • Undertake specialist wound therapies, such as negative pressure wound therapy and larval therapy.
  • Support the Leg Ulcer Clinic Coordinator in the triage, appointment, and administration of the leg ulcer clinic service.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse with post-registration experience in a hospital and/or community setting.
  • Post-registration training or course attendance in relevant fields, such as leg ulcer management or tissue viability.
  • Good understanding and knowledge of general health and social care needs, as well as wound care and tissue viability principles.
  • Ability to apply or has experience with NPWT, larval therapy, and compression bandage application.
  • IT skills and comfortable working with digital systems and electronic records.
