Job Opportunity: Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with a specialist interest in skin cancer. This appointment is part of an expansion plan within our department aimed at addressing increased demand for our regional specialist service.

The position offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with the dermatology service and has scope to be part of the Pan Avon on-call rota at a 1:8 level with doubly qualified StRs and dentally qualified DCT forming the first two tiers of the rota.

Person Specification
  • Eligible for full registration with the GDC; BDS (or equivalent)
  • GMCs Specialist List for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (or within 6 months of eligibility) or equivalent
  • FRCS (OMFS) or equivalent
  • Certificate of Accreditation or Intercollegiate Speciality Examination in OMFS following completion of SAC approved training programme or equivalent
  • Skin Cancer Surgery Fellowship
Key Responsibilities
  • Special interest and expertise in managing patients with head and neck skin cancer
  • Experience working with colleagues from other specialities involved in the management of patients with head and neck oncology
  • Understanding of clinical governance and the individual responsibilities it implies
  • Knowledge of the principles of clinical audit and evidence of participation
  • Evidence of research abilities and willingness to participate in research relevant to restorative dentistry and Directorate's needs
