Paediatric Metabolic Medicine Consultant

University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our consultant team as a Paediatric Metabolic Medicine Consultant. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering safe and sustainable care to paediatric patients across the Southwest, working collaboratively with primary and secondary care, and providing outreach clinics to various locations.
Main Duties- Support and increase consultant level delivery of tertiary services to metabolic inpatients and outpatients in Bristol and across the South West of England.
- Support the development of tertiary services as part of a managed clinical network for the South West of England.
- Ensure that the service conforms to the highest clinical standards in the investigation, diagnosis and management of children with IMD.
- Support the development of effective two-way communication between specialist centre and local hospitals, other professionals, patients and their families.
- Support the provision and development of metabolic outreach clinics in secondary care centres across the South West.
- Work closely with specialist clinical biochemistry.
- Provide clinical support for the newborn screening programme.
- Support transitional care service provision for patients with IMD.
- Support the provision of 24/7 specialist consultant cover across the South West.
- Liaise closely with patient support groups.
- Maintain their general metabolic skills.
- Be a member of the British Inherited Metabolic Disorders Group and the Society for Inborn Errors of Metabolism.
- MRCPCH by examination or equivalent.
- Full GMC registration.
- On the GMC's Specialist Register OR within six months of CCT at time of scheduled interview.
- Valid Level 3 Safeguarding Training.
- Paediatric Basic Life Support training.
