About the Role

The City of Edinburgh Council is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Operative for Cleanliness and Maintenance to join our team at Gylemuir Primary School.

Job Summary

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about maintaining a clean and safe environment to work with us in a part-time capacity. The successful candidate will be responsible for cleaning, sweeping, emptying litter bins, polishing, and dusting, including toilets and shower areas, as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cleaning and maintaining the school premises, including classrooms, corridors, and communal areas.
  • Emptying litter bins and recycling bins, and reporting any issues to management.
  • Polishing and dusting surfaces, including furniture and fixtures.
  • Using powered equipment as needed to complete tasks efficiently.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Physical stamina to perform manual tasks for extended periods.
  • A commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends, as required.

Salary and Benefits

The successful candidate can expect a competitive salary of £24,000 per annum, pro-rata for part-time and sessional hours. This role also offers an excellent pension package and the opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive team.
