Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Production Engineer to join our team at Jabil Careers. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for supporting all production engineering activities within our ESD controlled shop floor environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Support production engineering activities, including equipment fault finding, new product introduction, and existing product process verification.

2. Implement documentation and controls for all production processes, ensuring compliance with company, international (AS9100), and customer standards.

3. Ensure all production processes meet engineering team requirements, including documentation, drawings, and process instructions.

4. Develop, sign off, and train operators on new processes, providing detailed work instructions.

5. Conduct risk assessments for non-standard activities, ensuring risks and hazards are acknowledged and mitigated.

6. Support the implementation of lean principles, such as 5S, and continuously monitor and improve production processes.

7. Provide progress updates to the engineering manager on jobs, parts availability, delivery targets, and emergent problems.

8. Identify areas of failure and offer solutions to eradicate them within capable means.

9. Implement changes to reduce costs while maintaining quality of service and product.

10. Encourage inter-departmental team working to improve working practices and shared learning.

Intrinsic Job Factors

1. The role is based in Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire, Scotland, and may require occasional travel to other countries.

2. The role requires the use of Display screen equipment and Microsoft office work packages.

3. The role requires manual dexterity, handling, and lifting to fulfill the role.

4. Occasional extended hours, including weekends, may be required to meet business needs.

5. The employee should be flexible and able to work to tight deadlines.

IT Skillset Requirements

1. Microsoft office packages.

Qualifications / Experience / Specific Skills

Essential:

  • BSc or BEng degree in engineering, ideally Electronics or Mechanical.
  • Equipment / Process Fault Finding.
  • Production support engineering and factory operational requirements.
  • Process/Production Engineering including process flow, process optimisation, lean processing, 5S.
  • 5 Years + Experience of working in a production environment (Ideally within an ESD or electronics sector).

Preferred:

  • Lean Principles qualification (5S, 6 Sigma etc).
  • Experience of statistical process control and machine efficiency/data capture.
  • Experience of Electronic components & rework processes.
  • Quality Management systems (ISO or AS).
