Paediatric Ophthalmology Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant in Paediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus to join our team at the Royal Eye Infirmary. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for delivering secondary care ophthalmology, paediatric urgent care, strabismus services for children and adults, adult cataracts and retinopathy of prematurity screening and treatments.

About the Role- Deliver secondary care ophthalmology, paediatric urgent care, strabismus services for children and adults, adult cataracts and retinopathy of prematurity screening and treatments.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to patients.
- Contribute to the development of our services and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Provide teaching and supervision to junior doctors and other healthcare professionals.
The Royal Eye Infirmary is a leading centre for ophthalmic care, providing a wide range of services to patients across the region. Our department is well-equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including three operating theatres, an urgent care department, an outpatient department, and an optical dispensary.

Bristol airport is a comfortable 2-hour drive on the M5, Exeter airport is only 1 hour's drive, and London is just 3h10min away by direct train.
Essential Criteria- Strong experience in Sub-specialty training (fellowship level or equivalent) in Paediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus.
- Full GMC registration.
- FRCOphth, MRCOphth or equivalent.
- Entry on GMC specialist register.
- Evidence of experience and ability in teaching.
- Supervision of projects.
- Sub-specialty interest within paediatric ophthalmology to complement existing Consultants.
