Electrical Controls Design Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Controls Design Engineer to join our team at the Tamworth facility. The successful candidate will support all New Project Introduction activities within the business, working closely with the Engineering team to deliver high-quality electrical control systems for automotive applications.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design and develop electrical control systems for automotive DC and AC applications, including the use of AutoCAD and Solidworks Electrical.
  2. Produce block diagrams, schematics, and wiring drawings for electrical control systems.
  3. Specify and design software controls for system design, including experience in CAN/LIN and SENT applications.
  4. Work with software suppliers to ensure delivery and customisations are managed.
  5. Manage the testing phase of software to ensure the system operates as specified.
  6. Collaborate with the Sales team to provide design concepts, block diagrams, and costs for electrical components.
  7. Occasional site visits to customers and suppliers.
Requirements
  1. Hold a minimum of HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  2. Ideal BEng in Electrical Engineering.
  3. Minimum of 5 years recent industry-based experience in automotive DC electrical design engineering.
  4. Experience in specifying VCU units, software structuring and testing, and HMI design and implementation.
  5. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and able to produce calculation and reports to support design activities.
  6. Full UK Drivers licence.
  7. Computer Literate advanced use of Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel.
  8. Ability to carry out administration within a given deadline.
  9. Ability to work in areas that have restricted access.
  10. Experience of NPI activities.
