We are seeking a highly skilled Process Development Scientist to join our team at Imerys British Lithium. As a key member of our Process Development team, you will be responsible for developing and improving novel process technologies for extracting, refining, and purifying lithium from micaceous granites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct bench-scale trials and experiments in the Metallurgical Laboratory and within the Pilot Plant areas, including sample collection, analysis, data collection, and data recording.
- Develop and improve process technologies for extracting, refining, and purifying lithium from micaceous granites.
- Collaborate with design engineers and project stakeholders to define, specify, and de-risk process technology for the British Lithium Project.
- Undertake basic maintenance and calibrations of laboratory equipment.
- Ensure the safe operation of laboratory equipment and contribute to sustaining capital and improvement capital requests.
Requirements:
- Experience in mineral and chemical process technologies within a mining environment.
- Degree-level qualification in Chemistry or an earth science.
- Experience of working in a process laboratory environment, with knowledge of inorganic chemical processes and lithium chemistries.
- Knowledge of health & safety standards and COSHH regulations.
