We are looking for a highly skilled anaesthetic theatre practitioner to join our team as an Anaesthetic Band 6 Team Leader at Musgrove Park Hospital. This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and expanding theatre department, focusing on orthopaedic and head and neck anaesthetics.

About the Role

This anaesthetic specialist-based position involves leading safety briefings and the 5 steps to safer surgery, working closely with anaesthetic team leaders in various departments to standardise anaesthetic approaches. The successful candidate will have excellent leadership and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in and lead safety briefings and the 5 steps to safer surgery.
  • Attend regular team meetings and keep up-to-date with any changes to policies/procedures.
  • Use learning from incidents and complaints to improve practice.
Planning and Organisation
  • Work flexibly across theatres, supervising members of the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Authorise work rosters for the theatre team in line with local policies.
  • Provide training for new and temporary staff, mentorship for students, and preceptorship for newly qualified staff.
Person Specification

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • RGN / ODP qualification.
  • Completion of relevant anaesthetic course if working within anaesthetics.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Evidence of good literacy/English language skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within agreed policies and procedures.

Salary: £50,000 - £70,000 per annum, dependent on experience. Benefits include a comprehensive pension scheme, annual leave entitlement, and access to internal training and development opportunities.
