About the Role

The PCN Pharmacy Technician will play a vital part in ensuring the safe and effective supply of prescribed medication to patients across the Greenwich PCN Alliance. This role will contribute to the successful clinical management of patients and is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and skilled individual to join our team.

Main Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of this role include:

1. Medicines Optimisation

a. Implement a centralised medicines optimisation process across PCN practices, ensuring safe and effective repeat prescribing and repeat dispensing processes.

b. Agree a process for appliance requests, including stoma, continence, dressings, and ACBS products.

c. Champion electronic repeat dispensing (eRD) and support staff training, working closely with community pharmacy.

2. Patient Safety

a. Run searches and action MHRA CAS alerts to ensure patient safety.

b. Support patient queries related to medicines and refer complex queries to pharmacists, nurses, or GPs as needed.

3. Quality Improvement Projects

a. Identify patients suitable for virtual clinics to support QIPP implementation.

b. Identify patients who have not been issued anticoagulant/lithium/steroid/antiplatelet cards and ensure read codes are updated in patient notes.

4. Health Innovation Network (HIN) Project

a. Identify patients and risk stratify using UCLP search templates on EMIS.

b. Contact patients for up to date home blood pressure readings if available.

The Greenwich PCN Alliance is a collaborative network of four PCNs across Greenwich, Blackheath, and Charlton. As a successful candidate, you will be allocated to one PCN and will work across that PCN only.
