Job Title: CMIP IPO Science

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a CMIP IPO Science. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a critical project that requires expertise in scientific and data infrastructure project management and facilitation.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the coordination, planning, development, and implementation of the CMIP data archiving and dissemination. This will involve providing facilitation support and management of relevant CMIP and WIP task teams and joint activities with the Earth System Grid Federation (ESGF). Additionally, the candidate will provide communication support to CMIP data infrastructure activities and engage with relevant communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the development and implementation of CMIP data archiving and dissemination strategies
  • Provide facilitation support to CMIP and WIP task teams and joint activities with ESGF
  • Communicate with relevant communities and stakeholders to promote CMIP data infrastructure activities
  • Organize and facilitate infrastructure-relevant meetings, workshops, conferences, training sessions, and other activities
  • Engage with wider communities such as PANGEO, Copernicus, and other emerging communities
Requirements
  • Master's degree in physical or climate sciences or any other appropriate scientific field
  • At least three years of relevant work experience
  • Expertise in scientific or data infrastructure project and program management and facilitation
  • Experience with coding languages including Python, C, or Fortran
  • Expertise in working in an international environment with globally distributed teams
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication, and mediation skills
  • Proficiency in English
Desirable Qualifications
  • PhD in climate science, particularly climate modeling
  • Qualification in project or program management
  • Experience working with climate models and climate data, including familiarity with CMIP
  • Experience in science communication and outreach
