Job Title: CMIP IPO Science

HE Space is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of CMIP IPO Science. This position will play a crucial role in supporting the coordination, planning, development, and implementation of the CMIP data archiving and dissemination.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the coordination and planning of CMIP data infrastructure activities, including facilitation of task teams and joint activities with the Earth System Grid Federation (ESGF).
  • Provide communication support to CMIP data infrastructure activities and engage with relevant communities.
  • Promote equity and inclusivity in CMIP data access.
  • Organize and facilitate infrastructure-relevant meetings, workshops, conferences, training sessions, and other activities relevant to CMIP.
  • Reach out to relevant wider communities such as PANGEO, Copernicus, and other emerging communities.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in physical or climate sciences or any other appropriate scientific field.
  • At least three years of relevant work experience.
  • Expertise in scientific or data infrastructure project and program management and facilitation.
  • Experience with coding languages including Python, C, or Fortran.
  • Expertise in working in an international environment with globally distributed teams.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication, and mediation skills.
  • Proficiency in English.

The following qualifications would also be desirable:

  • PhD in climate science, particularly climate modeling.
  • Qualification in project or program management.
  • Experience working with climate models and climate data, including familiarity with CMIP.
  • Experience in science communication and outreach.
