About the Role

Duncan Lewis Solicitors, a leading law firm in the UK, is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated solicitor to join our Court of Protection team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for handling complex cases involving adults who lack mental capacity to make decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct court of protection litigation and advocacy in relevant court hearings.
  • Manage a caseload of health and welfare cases, providing technical expertise and guidance to other team members as needed.
  • Attend clients, take instructions, and prepare cases with a professional and proactive approach.
  • Deal with correspondence, maintain accurate time-costing procedures, and ensure compliance with file management.
  • Implement recommendations made by supervisors or directors following monthly file reviews.
Requirements
  • Extensive experience in dealing with health and welfare Court of Protection-related work.
  • Experience in own advocacy is an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of the publicly funded Court of Protection work and the ability to service privately funded cases.
  • Good working knowledge of Mental Capacity Law and practice appropriate to PQE.
  • Must have a clean, valid Practising Certificate at the time of applying.
  • Team player with the ability to adapt to new challenges.
  • Previous proven supervisory experience is desirable and working on key performance indicators is essential.
