About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safeguarding and Wellbeing Specialist to join our team at Dovetail and Slate. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Designated Safeguarding Lead: Serve as the primary point of contact for safeguarding concerns, providing timely and effective support to students, staff, and external agencies.
  • Safeguarding Case Management: Manage safeguarding cases, working closely with local authorities, police, and social services as needed.
  • Safeguarding Policy Development: Lead on the development and implementation of safeguarding policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with statutory guidelines.
  • Staff Training and Support: Provide guidance and training to staff on safeguarding and child protection matters, creating a culture of vigilance.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of safeguarding concerns and actions taken, ensuring all documentation is up to date and confidential.
Requirements
  • Experience: Proven experience in a safeguarding role, ideally within an education setting.
  • Safeguarding Knowledge: Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and procedures, including Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE).
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive situations with care and professionalism.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Leadership: Ability to work independently and as part of a team, showing leadership in safeguarding issues.
  • Commitment to Equality: A commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion within the college community.
  • DBS Clearance: Enhanced DBS clearance.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Level 3 or Above: Level 3 or above qualification in safeguarding or child protection.
  • College or Secondary School Experience: Previous experience in a college or secondary school setting.
  • Safeguarding Training Experience: Experience in delivering safeguarding training.
