About the Role

We are seeking a Passenger Assistant to join our Travel Service team within Children's Services, supporting individuals with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND).

As a Passenger Assistant, you will be responsible for the direct supervision of Children & Young People (CYP) travelling on Special Needs and Social Care Transport, ensuring their safety, safeguarding, and well-being during their journey.

About You

We are looking for an individual who can establish a rapport and build relationships with passengers and their parents and carers. A patient and calm disposition, as well as emotional resilience in challenging situations, is essential for this role.

Flexibility to cover routes at short notice, dependent on the needs of the service, is also required.

What We Offer

As a Passenger Assistant, you will receive on-the-job training, including basic paediatric first aid, behaviour management, and safeguarding training. You may also receive additional specialist training, such as Autism Awareness or specific medical needs training, dependent on the allocation of work.

We are committed to promoting independence and have developed an Independent Travel Hub to support our Children and Young People in travelling safely and independently across the town. There will be opportunities for you to support this work and receive full training.

Requirements
  • Experience of working in an educational setting is desirable but not essential.
  • Fluency in the English language is a requirement for this role.
  • You will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
