To make a significant contribution to the University of Glasgow's Geospatial Data Science Group, this research associate/fellow will work with Professor Ana Basiri and the team to develop innovative methods and models for analyzing geospatial data. This role will involve working on various research projects to understand human behavior in complex systems, with applications in urban planning, transportation, and social sciences.
Main Duties and Responsibilities- Develop and apply computational models and simulations to analyze individual and group behavior in cities, with a focus on minority groups.
- Collaborate with the Geospatial Data Science team and project partners to design and develop inclusive and responsible technologies.
- Conduct research individually and jointly to meet project deliverables and contribute to the team's research strategy.
- Develop and enhance your research profile and reputation, including publishing in high-quality journals and presenting at international conferences.
- Support the implementation of FAIR principles in geospatial data science, including making data and code repositories available and reproducible.
- Participate in team meetings, seminars, and workshops to contribute to the team's research and development.
- Lead and contribute to the organization, supervision, and mentoring of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Engage in personal and professional development to enhance your skills and career trajectory.
Essential:
- A PhD in a relevant academic or research discipline, with experience in personal development in statistics, mathematics, computer science, or quantitative geography.
- Extensive knowledge of quantitative data analysis, geo-statistics, agent-based simulation, and computational social sciences.
- Experience in at least one programming language, such as Python or R.
Desirable:
- Good knowledge and experience of Geo-AI or spatio-temporal data.
For appointment at Grade 8:
- Good team leadership skills.
- A track record of presentation and publication of research results in quality journals and conferences.
- Experience of making a leading contribution in academic activities.
- Ability to demonstrate independence in research and project management.
