About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Anaesthetist to join our General Theatre Anaesthetic team at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality anaesthetic services to patients undergoing a range of surgical procedures.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in anaesthesia, with experience in managing critically ill patients and a passion for delivering excellent patient care. You will be expected to work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient care and to contribute to the development of our anaesthetic services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide anaesthetic services for a range of surgical procedures, including general, breast, and colorectal surgery, upper GI surgery, orthopaedics, and trauma.
  • Manage critically ill patients and make decisions regarding their care in collaboration with the surgical team.
  • Contribute to the development of our anaesthetic services, including the implementation of new procedures and protocols.
  • Work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Participate in the general on-call rota, covering non-cardiac emergency surgery and supporting maternity services.
Requirements
  • Eligibility for inclusion on the Specialist Register or eligible for inclusion within 6 months of interview date.
  • Full registration with the GMC.
  • Primary medical qualification.
  • FRCA or equivalent.
  • Qualification in Paediatric Life Support.
  • Advanced training in Anaesthetic Sub-speciality.
