Job Title: Specialist Student Support Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Specialist Student Support Assistant to join our team at Wye School. The successful candidate will have a passion for supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and will be able to work effectively with students, teachers, and other support staff to ensure the best possible outcomes for our students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized support to students with SEN, including those with Downs Syndrome, to help them access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.
  • Work closely with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement personalized learning plans that meet the needs of each student.
  • Assist students with daily living skills, such as personal care and mobility, as needed.
  • Support students with communication and social skills, including those with Downs Syndrome, to help them develop independence and confidence.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to identify and implement strategies to support students with SEN in the classroom.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with students with SEN, particularly those with Downs Syndrome.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and other support staff.
  • Ability to develop and implement personalized learning plans that meet the needs of each student.
  • Knowledge of SEN legislation and policies, including the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve the best possible outcomes for our students.
