Job Title: Clinical Director

Job Summary:

The Clinical Director will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality care and outcomes within their division. This will involve clinical leadership, working closely with Associate Clinical Directors, to enable clinical care pathways that meet national and local strategies.

This is a full-time Consultant-level post, with the post holder working 8 PAs as Clinical Director and 2 PAs in a clinical Consultant Psychiatrist role. The successful candidate will work as part of a close team with the Divisional Managing Director and Divisional Director of Nursing and Quality, and the Associate Clinical Directors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality care and outcomes within the division.
  • Provide clinical leadership, working closely with Associate Clinical Directors.
  • Enable clinical care pathways that meet national and local strategies.
  • Work closely with the Divisional Managing Director and Divisional Director of Nursing and Quality.
  • Work as part of a close team with the Associate Clinical Directors.


Person Specification:

Qualifications:

Essential:
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • MRCPsych or equivalent professional qualification at Consultant level.
  • Management qualification or equivalent level of experience and proven ability to perform at this level.
Eligibility:

Essential:
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.
  • Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
  • In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice.
Knowledge/Experience:

Essential:
  • Experience of clinical or professional leadership role within services.
  • Good understanding of change management.
  • Experience of developing and maintaining effective partnerships with stakeholders in the redesign of services.
  • Ability to engage with staff and motivate to improve performance.
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly.
  • An open and facilitative style of leadership.
  • Ability to hold others to account.
  • Positive use of self-reflection and commitment to team working and continuous learning.
  • An excellent understanding of effective systems for integrated governance and the management of clinical and non-clinical risks.
  • Strong performance management skills combining clarity around expectations, direction and holding others to account.
Desirable:
  • Understanding of national policy and understanding of regulatory framework for Foundation Trusts.
