Job Overview

About the Role

This senior accounting position offers the opportunity to work within a dynamic team environment, where you will be responsible for preparing statutory year-end accounts for various business entities, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements.

Main Responsibilities
  • Preparation of statutory year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies, adhering to strict statutory guidelines.
  • Taxation expertise in personal and corporate tax, including preparation and submission of tax returns, as well as advising clients on tax planning strategies.
  • Client liaison: effective communication with clients regarding accounts, tax returns, and general business advice, utilizing both phone and email channels. On-site client work may be required in some instances.
  • Mentoring and supervising junior staff members, reviewing their work, and providing constructive feedback to facilitate their professional growth and development.
  • Handling ad hoc queries and offering technical advice to clients on a wide range of accounting and tax matters.
  • Experience with accounting software such as Iris, Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage is essential.
  • Working independently to meet deadlines and ensure delivery of high-quality service.
  • Client billing and invoicing for work performed.
  • Maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor, contributing to a supportive team environment.
  • Providing feedback to senior management to improve departmental efficiency and effectiveness.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • A minimum of 5 years' relevant experience in a practice environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of taxation (both personal and corporate).
  • Desirable but not essential: experience with payroll.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Confidence in client-facing roles and ability to work unsupervised when required.
  • Strong proficiency in accounting software and ability to adopt new systems efficiently.
Benefits

This role offers a competitive salary range of £35,000 to £45,000 per annum, dependent on experience, along with flexible working options and opportunities for career growth and development in a supportive and expanding practice.

Work Arrangements
  • Full-time employment.
  • Monday to Friday, day shift.
