We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at Dunbar Education. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the educational journey of a child with communication and interaction needs, as well as Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, is a positive and successful one.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support to a child with complex needs, promoting their social skills, emotional regulation, and self-esteem.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to develop and implement tailored learning strategies, enhancing the child's educational experience.
  • Facilitate the child's participation in classroom activities and school life, fostering a sense of belonging and inclusion.
  • Monitor and report on the child's progress, adapting support as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Build a trusting and supportive relationship with the child, creating a positive learning environment that encourages growth and development.
Requirements
  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, preferably in an SEN setting.
  • Experience supporting children with communication/interaction needs and SEMH needs.
  • Understanding of strategies and interventions to support children with SEN.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards challenges.
