Transport Manager Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Transport Manager to join our team at Right Now Recruitment. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for managing a large fleet of drivers and vehicles, as well as a small team of coordinators and administration staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a large fleet of drivers and various vehicle types, ensuring maximum efficiency and compliance with regulations.
  • Be on call when required within a 24/7 operation, providing support and guidance to drivers and staff as needed.
  • Develop and implement effective route planning strategies to optimize delivery times and reduce costs.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including Fleet and Vehicle Maintenance, to ensure seamless operations and effective communication.
  • Arrange third-party transport and temporary staff as required, ensuring seamless integration with our operations.
  • Ensure full compliance with the Operator's Licence at all times, maintaining accurate records and reports.
  • Develop and implement Health and Safety procedures, ensuring compliance with legislation and guidelines affecting the public and environment.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in Transport/Logistics or Depot Management.
  • Exposure to managing a team of drivers and office staff in a busy environment.
  • CPC qualification or willingness to undergo certification.
  • Experience in Hazardous waste, Recycling, Waste management, or Building Materials.
  • Experience within Logistics/Freight/Courier or Perishable goods.
  • Previous working experience within a Collections based Transport Service.
  • Full UK drivers licence with access to your own Vehicle.
  • Ability to settle quickly within a demanding leadership role.
