About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Paediatric Sonographer to join our team at Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust. As a Clinical Specialist Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing a range of complex paediatric ultrasound examinations to an exceptional standard, producing high-quality reports, and contributing to the management of patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform highly complex paediatric ultrasound examinations to an exceptional standard.
  • Produce high-quality, independent reports ensuring compliance with imaging protocols.
  • Contribute to the management of patients, delivering a safe, effective, and efficient service.
  • Work independently, using sound judgment in decision-making, and delivering in a timely and confident manner.
  • Communicate US findings to a clinical specialized multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to work under pressure, and escalate significant and unexpected findings when delays may have a negative impact on the Patient.
Requirements
  • BSc Honours Diagnostic Radiography or DCRR.
  • Masters level Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound or equivalent (CASE accredited).
  • HCPC Registered.
  • Specialist knowledge of paediatric ultrasound, underpinned by theory and postgraduate experience.
  • Possess knowledge and understanding of the audit process and participation in departmental audit.
  • Evidence of personal and professional development.
  • Teaching and training skills with the ability to adapt training style to the needs of the trainee.
  • Awareness of clinical governance issues relating to patient care.
