As a Weekend Foreign Editor, you will be responsible for seeking out fresh angles on the biggest stories, liaising with our team of correspondents to shape the reporting, and commissioning graphics to accompany the final article.

Key responsibilities include: generating ideas, commissioning, editing and publishing for The Telegraph both online and in print, working across a Tuesday to Saturday rota.

You will also be responsible for driving through dispatches and longer-term investigations that can be published outside the strict demands of daily news, planning for major events to assist with commissioning, and editing the foreign section on Saturdays for the Sunday paper.

In addition, you will be responsible for liaising with approximately 30 foreign correspondents and acting as a point of contact during breaking news events, working with desk editors from multiple departments (video, graphics, pictures) on breaking news and upcoming long term events, and engaging with a community of readers interested in international news via Twitter, Facebook and other platforms.

Key skills required include a proven track record of news editing in a national or international newsroom, strong news sense, with the ability to seek out exclusives and breaking stories, experience of planning coverage of future news events and preparing diary items of news, strong ability to write and edit articles clearly, concisely and to house style, and proficiency in a second language is desirable.
