About the Role

A specialist school near Guildford is seeking a Mental Health Teaching Assistant to support children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The students range between 10 and 16 years old and face various challenges, including trauma, anxiety, OCD, and behavioural issues.

The ideal candidate will be a dedicated role model, committed to building strong relationships and being empathetic. Experience with SEN children and/or adults is essential, and graduates in Psychology, Criminology or Counselling are highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support children with SEMH needs in a specialist school setting
  • Build strong relationships with students, staff and parents
  • Work collaboratively with the teaching team to develop and implement Individual Education Plans
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive school environment

Requirements

  • Experience working with SEN children and/or adults
  • Graduates in Psychology, Criminology or Counselling are highly valued
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Enhanced DBS and/or overseas police check required
