About the Role

The role of Senior Underwriter, Offshore Renewables, is part of the wider Natural Resources & Construction Team in London. The team's primary focus is on providing insurance solutions for Offshore Renewables and Upstream Energy assets. As a Senior Underwriter, you will be responsible for underwriting profitable new and renewal business to meet the business targets encompassing Offshore Renewables and Upstream Energy.

Your Key Responsibilities
  1. Underwrite new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom line targets
  2. Negotiate participation, pricing, and terms and conditions with brokers
  3. Proactively manage exposure and capacity
  4. Underwrite and evaluate capacity aggregations, including Natural Catastrophe Accumulation, ensuring an understanding of catastrophe modelling and interpretation of scenarios
  5. Support the acquisition of new business and retention of existing business, including client and broker negotiations where necessary
  6. Liaise with Market Management & Distribution (MMC) on market management initiatives
  7. Represent Allianz Commercial externally to the market
  8. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key brokers, clients, and other relevant stakeholders
  9. Train, develop, and coach less experienced staff
What We're Looking For
  • ACII qualified or equivalent, or working towards it
  • Solid experience as an Underwriter, Broker, or in Risk Management in the Energy sector
  • Risk Assessment and Management skills, with ability to assess risk inherent exposures and natural hazards relevant to the Offshore Energy Line of Business
  • Pricing and Market management skills, with ability to analyse current performance against benchmarks and understand the business needs and customer needs
  • Contract Drafting and Interpretation skills, with ability to design, develop, and implement consistent, robust wordings
  • Policy Management skills, with robust understanding of policy administration life cycle, information collection, policy issuance, premium bookings, credit control, and cancellation
  • Effective Communication and Influencing skills, with ability to persuade and motivate others to act without executive authority
  • Strong Analytical skills, with ability to effectively absorb information from various sources and draw appropriate conclusions
  • Fluent English language skills
