About the Role

We are seeking an experienced underwriter to join our Renewable Energy team at Hiscox, where you will have the opportunity to develop a broad book of renewable energy risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Underwrite a book of renewable risks in line with individual Underwriting Authority and wider portfolio guidelines.
  • Share views and help develop our underwriting strategy.
  • Carry out risk analysis utilising modelling and technical guides, tools and group guidelines.
  • Develop and strengthen product and underwriting knowledge and judgement including review of wordings.
  • Monitor and keep abreast of changes in underwriting, regulation and compliance.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key brokers and clients including representing Hiscox at meetings, conferences, client visits etc.
  • Work effectively with key internal stakeholders including Engineering, Pricing, Claims, Exposure Management and Operations.
  • Work with the Operations team to ensure the required underwriting and compliance guidelines are followed and documentation and recording systems remains up to date and accurate.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable and meaningful experience underwriting Renewable risks in the London market.
  • Experience underwriting Power, Offshore and Construction risks may be of benefit.
  • Strong analytical capabilities to assess risks and demonstrate accurate judgement.
  • A driven and curious individual who demonstrates interest and enthusiasm to learn.
  • Able to work independently but also be an effective team worker.
  • Established market presence amongst key brokers and preferably clients too.
  • Ability to work effectively and maximise the potential of our Engineering/Pricing/Catastrophe Modelling team.
  • Ability to build strong relationships, both internally and externally.
  • Willingness to travel as needed and attend and host business social events.
  • Progress in ACII examinations or a commitment to complete them.
