About the Role

The University of Bristol is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Associate Professor / Professor of Optical and Quantum Networks to join our School of Electrical, Electronic, and Mechanical Engineering. This is an exciting opportunity to drive innovation at the forefront of telecommunications, supported by world-class facilities and a team of leading experts in the field.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct world-leading research in Optical and Quantum Networks, with a focus on advancing the design and solutions of classical optical and quantum networks.
  • Teach and supervise students at the undergraduate, MSc, and PhD levels, with a particular focus on our BEng/MEng in Computer Science and Electronics Engineering, as well as our Masters programmes in Optical and Quantum Networks and related technologies.
  • Develop and deliver innovative teaching in Optical and Quantum Networks, with a passion for driving excellence in student learning.
  • Secure research funding from a range of sources, including scientific foundations, space agencies, government bodies, and industry.
Requirements
  • A proven ability to conduct world-leading research and demonstrate leadership in Optical and Quantum Networks.
  • A strong track record of securing research funding from a range of sources.
  • A clear and focused vision for future research that aligns with and enhances the activities of the High-Performance Networks research group.
  • The ability to develop and deliver innovative teaching in Optical and Quantum Networks, with a passion for driving excellence in student learning.
