SEN Teaching Assistant Role

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work with children with autism in a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Brixton. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting students with special educational needs and eager to make a positive impact in a vibrant community-centered learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support for students with autism, encouraging their social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Assist in creating and implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and adapt lessons to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Collaborate closely with the SENCO and classroom teachers to establish inclusive strategies that help students thrive.
  • Monitor and track student progress, adapting strategies as needed to ensure ongoing improvement and engagement.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience working with children with autism or other special educational needs.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting children's needs.
  • Uptodate DBS check (required).
