Ecologist Role

We have a dynamic team of ecologists across the UK who collaborate closely with various environmental disciplines within Wardell Armstrong International Ltd., including environmental planning, archaeology, arboriculture, landscape architecture, and engineering.

This exciting role will expose you to the full breadth of ecology works and involve working on a range of projects, including residential, large-scale mixed-use developments, utilities & infrastructure, green energy (wind turbines, solar), and quarries, as well as bespoke projects and clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and undertake ecological field surveys and analyze and interpret survey results.
  • Produce preliminary ecological appraisals, survey reports, licence applications, Ecological Impact Assessments, and other similar documents.
  • Manage projects, including resource allocation, managing subcontractors, managing risk, quality assurance, and client feedback.
  • Develop emerging workstreams such as Biodiversity Net Gain.

Requirements:

  • Be qualified to degree level or equivalent in ecology or a related discipline.
  • Hold or be working towards protected species survey licences and have some experience of protected species Mitigation Licensing.
  • Have a full understanding of habitat survey and a broad knowledge of protected species survey.
  • Be comfortable writing Ecological Impact Assessment reports and understanding CIEEM methodology.
  • Have competent GIS skills, a full understanding of Biodiversity Net Gain assessment, and use of typical metric calculators.
  • Have experience of managing ecology projects to completion.
  • Have excellent report writing skills.
