We are seeking a Regional Building Services Manager to join our Northwest region, operating out of our regional office in Widnes. The successful candidate will be technically sound in all areas of MEP building services, with a proven track record in a main contractor environment on mid to large building schemes in the UK.

About the Role

The Regional Building Services Manager will be responsible for:

  • Providing technical support for Design Management Team, including 3rd Party updates on legislation.
  • Participating in design performance reviews for all primary, secondary, and specialist subcontractor designers.
  • Attending all project pipeline meetings and tender gateway reviews to advise on all design matters.
  • Providing tender and project support to Design Management Team.
  • Sharing best practice with Design Director.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Reviewing the Tender Information, including the Employer's Information Requirements and any existing Design Team appointments, to determine the scope and extent of all remaining design work.
  • Verifying that the existing Tender (design) Information is compliant, coordinated, affordable, and buildable prior to the Tender Settlement meeting.
  • Determining, in conjunction with the bid team, the strategy for the completion of all remaining design work.
  • Assessing/auditing all novated Design Team members and, if applicable, negotiating any additional services.
  • Preparing and issuing fee enquiries for supplementary Design Team members.
  • Selecting and informally appointing supplementary Design Team members for both Pre and Post Contract Stages.
  • Preparing and issuing fee enquiries for any additional survey work and/or reports.
  • Producing and agreeing the Project Stage 'draft' Design Programme, Design Deliverables, and Specialist sub-contractor Procurement Schedule.
  • Developing, in conjunction with the Design Team, competitive, technically robust design and engineering solutions that respond to the Employer's Requirements.
  • Engaging with 'preferred' specialist subcontractors to develop innovative design solutions and close out design interfaces.
  • Compiling a schedule of design assumptions, design opportunities (VE), design risks (HSE/CDM) identified during the Tender Stage design process.
  • Assisting in the technical review of specialist subcontract tender returns and reviewing all alternative design solutions.
  • Evaluating the commercial responses to specialist subcontract tender returns and proposing recommendations for bid inclusion.
  • Producing technical responses for all design questions contained in the tender enquiry document and compiling a schedule of Tender Stage design clarifications, qualifications, and derogations.
  • Approving all design proposals that are to be included in the tender offer.
  • Preparing for and attending all Pre and Post Tender Interviews.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • Significant experience with MEP contractor and consultant supply chain within the North West.
  • Active involvement in the wider built environment, understanding legislative changes and movement in the industry affecting project requirements for certification/accreditations.
  • Embracing mentoring and support of other members of the team, with a 'can-do' attitude.
  • Hard working, self-motivated, and digitally savvy.
