Transport Operations Manager

We are seeking an experienced Transport Supervisor to oversee the operation at our Bolton Depot.
Job SummaryThe successful candidate will be responsible for managing and planning driver and vehicle resources to achieve delivery/collection times and client Service Level Agreements (SLAs). They will also be responsible for liaising with the shunting operation, ensuring service levels are achieved and maintained, and optimising resources to adhere to Working Time Directive (WTD) and drivers' hours legislation.
Key Responsibilities- Effectively manage and plan driver and vehicle resources to achieve delivery/collection times and client SLAs.
- Liaise with the shunting operation covering pre-loading and unloading operations.
- Ensure service levels are achieved and maintained, in conjunction with other departments.
- Optimise resources and adhere to WTD and drivers' hours legislation.
- Use the Driver Rota to plan runs according to shift pattern and available hours, taking into account holidays and sickness.
- Ensure legal compliance regarding any defects, services, MOTs, etc.
- Investigate all incidents of fleet damage, RTIs, HPNMs, and escalate to line managers for further support.
- Carry out disciplinary hearings, return to work meetings, substance misuse procedures, etc.
- Ensure any risk assessments at the depot are organised and carried out accordingly.
- Pre-brief and debrief all drivers, ensuring company standards are maintained and adhered to.
- Significant knowledge and experience of tachograph/driving rules and regulations.
- CPC National desirable but not essential.
- Previous management/supervisory experience.
- Planning and organising skills, high level of numeracy.
- Negotiating skills, ability to influence and steer.
- The ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
- Knowledge of Road Transport Directive and current drivers' hours.
- Significant transport experience in FMCG environment.
