Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team on a 6-month contract basis. The successful candidate will work on a variety of projects, leading the development of solutions to technical issues and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development of solutions to technical issues as a member of a project team, reporting to Technical Leads and directly to the customer.
  • Developing design solutions based on customer or internally derived requirements, validating, and verifying through the design process.
  • Review and check design work and technical reports, providing help and direction to less experienced engineers.
  • Carrying out technical analysis and investigations, and preparing reports with suggested recommendations to support the resolution of problems and the improvement of engineering capability.
  • Planning, delivering, and monitoring assigned projects or work packages, ensuring that requirements are delivered to plan.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in mechanical design and development, with a strong understanding of design principles and engineering standards.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, such as PTC Creo, Solidworks, or Inventor.
  • Experience with product lifecycle management tools, such as Teamcenter.
Desirable Skills:
  • Engineering background in a weapons system or design for military use.
  • Structural/Stress analysis (MS Excel, Mathcad, FEA PTC Simulate/Ansys).
  • System control (Matlab/Simulink).
  • Hydraulic system design.
  • Material selection and manufacturing techniques.

Please note that due to the nature of this role, you will need to have excellent team skills, be self-motivated, fast-learning, and have the ability to prioritise and manage your own work with minimal guidance.

Additionally, you will be subject to both security and export control restrictions, which may limit your eligibility for this role.
