About the Role

Meta is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Litigation Counsel to join our EMEA region team. As a key member of our civil litigation team, you will be responsible for advising internal teams on legal risks and assisting in the defense of complex litigation matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and Collaborate with Outside Counsel: Work closely with external lawyers on multiple litigation matters with a focus on content, consumer, and data protection.
  • Provide Legal Advice and Manage Litigation Matters: Offer expert guidance and manage all phases of complex litigation, including investigations and smaller matters.
  • Develop Litigation Strategies: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop strategies for high-profile, precedent-setting matters before national and European courts.
  • Work with Cross-Functional Teams: Collaborate with public policy, content, and privacy policy teams on product, intermediary liability, data privacy, and wider commercial issues.
  • Manage Legal Risks and Resolve Disputes: Develop creative approaches to managing legal risks and resolving disputes, ensuring high-quality work product that furthers Meta's strategic goals.
Requirements
  • Qualified Lawyer: 3+ years of post-qualification experience in a law firm or in-house.
  • Strong Litigation Experience: Proven experience in litigation, including experience with higher and/or appellate courts, ideally across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Collaborative Environment: Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and make sound judgments under tight deadlines.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability: Willingness to work on projects in other areas and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Internet Laws and Issues: Familiarity with Internet laws and issues, particularly GDPR and its application to online platforms, as well as an understanding of the E-Commerce Directive, DSA, and other content-related legislation.
