About the Role

Rapiscan Systems, a leading provider of detection technology, is seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join our Science and Technology team. As a key member of our team, you will drive forward the Research and Development Road Map for the Business, focusing on computer vision and deep learning to conduct novel research in object detection, image classification, and automated threat recognition (ATR).

Key Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of Scientists and Engineers to design new algorithms using emerging methodologies, improve performance of existing algorithms, and identify venues and unmet needs for new applications.
  2. Investigate, develop, prototype, and evaluate state-of-the-art algorithms in computer vision, deep learning, and image processing.
  3. Communicate research, document progress, and present results to the team and stakeholders.
  4. Support and contribute towards the establishment and implementation of the S&T RoadMap, with the aim of developing and protecting differentiated technologies to integrate into products and aid sales.

Requirements

  1. Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline.
  2. 3+ years in a Data Science position within a relevant job environment.
  3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to conduct experiments and determine how a particular piece of information can advance the team's research goals.
  4. Expertise in computer vision and machine learning techniques, including object detection, recognition, or segmentation.
  5. Familiarity with popular deep learning architectures for computer vision and knowledge on data augmentation techniques for small datasets.
