Sanctuary Personnel Ltd, a pioneering recruitment agency, is seeking a highly skilled Personal Advisor to join their dynamic 18+ Care Leavers Service Team in Birmingham. The successful candidate will work full-time, playing a vital role in the lives of care leavers as they transition to adulthood.

About the Role

The salary for this permanent position is up to £35,336 per annum. As a key member of the team, you will contribute to the development of the service within the directorate. Your responsibilities will include managing an individual caseload, working with young people and groups, and participating in duty work to respond to emerging needs.

Key Responsibilities
  1. To act as a full member of the staff team of the Service and contribute to the development of the Service within the Directorate.
  2. To fully contribute to the work of the Service, manage an individual caseload, work with individual and groups of young people, and participate in the duty work, responding to need as it arises.
  3. To participate in the provision of appropriate programmes for individual service users of the Service, in conjunction with other Directorate staff and other agencies within this field; that will most effectively assist the young people to achieve the transition to adulthood, with particular emphasis upon their transition from being in care, to living independently in the community.
  4. Within the role of aftercare adviser, to implement and adhere to all relevant Directorate and Service procedures.
  5. In working with service users, to adopt a holistic approach to meeting their individual needs, and promote their involvement in the process, in order to develop the self-esteem of service users through a process of positive achievement; to keep in touch with young people to achieve this aim.
  6. To advise other Directorate and council staff regarding the preparation and support needs of care leavers, and assist in the promotion of services for these groups of service users.
  7. To assist in working with other agencies active in this field, in order to help maximise the provision of resources by these agencies for the benefit of Directorate service users.
  8. To assist in the monitoring and evaluation of the work of the Service and to help in the provision of relevant reports where necessary.
  9. To assist in ensuring that all young people referred to the Service receive their rightful entitlement from Directorate and other agencies and to facilitate their access to care curriculum that meets the wide range of their individual needs.
  10. To carry out all other necessary duties as required to contribute to the continuing development of the Services, and to contribute to the maintenance of the efficient operation of all aspects of the Service.
