About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Midwife to join our team as a Bank Midwife at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. As a Bank Midwife, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality midwifery care to women and their families within our integrated maternity service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional midwifery care to mothers and babies during the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal period.
  • Work collaboratively with the multi-professional team to ensure safe and effective care.
  • Rotate within all clinical areas within maternity services to support professional development and maintain safe standards of midwifery care.
  • Take autonomous clinical decisions in emergency situations to ensure safe outcomes for mother and baby.
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate who possesses the following skills and qualifications:

  • Demonstrable ability to meet the Trust Values.
  • NMC Part 10 register or equivalent.
  • Experience within both the wards and delivery suite areas.
  • Ability to evaluate midwifery care.
  • Ability to relate NMC Midwives Rules, Code of Practice, The Scope of Professional Practice, Standards for the Administration of Medicines.
  • Ability to use appropriate language according to circumstances.
  • Legible, literate, and grammatically correct.
  • Ability to work well within a team.
  • Ability to use own initiative.
  • Ability to prioritize own workload.
  • Ability to manage junior staff.
  • Knowledge of the Public Health Agenda.
  • Ability to educate parents and students.
  • Ability to undertake all midwifery duties within the relevant clinical area.
  • IT literate.
  • Knowledge of Clinical Governance.
Desirable Qualifications and Skills

We would also like to consider candidates who possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Knowledge of current NSF framework/healthy hospitals initiative.
  • Able to meet the practical requirements of the post, including cross-site shift patterns.
