Tax Manager for Alternative Investment Funds

Position Overview

Grant Thornton is seeking a knowledgeable Tax Manager to join our Alternative Funds Tax team. This role involves providing comprehensive tax advisory, compliance, and transaction services to a diverse range of alternative funds and their investment managers across various asset classes, including private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, and real estate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the complete tax compliance process for asset managers and their respective funds, ensuring adherence to all regulatory requirements.
  • Engage directly with clients, fostering strong relationships and facilitating a seamless compliance experience.
  • Oversee operational aspects such as financial management, billing, and debtor management.
  • Collaborate with senior team members to deliver tailored solutions for standalone advisory projects.
  • Produce high-quality client deliverables while enhancing your understanding of the tax implications relevant to the alternative investment sector.
  • Contribute to business development efforts by identifying opportunities within existing client relationships and pursuing new business prospects.
  • Participate in the firm’s training programs to expand your technical and commercial expertise.
  • Mentor junior team members, supporting their professional growth and development.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a professional qualification (CTA / ACA / ACCA or equivalent) and demonstrate confidence in managing a client portfolio. Additional preferred skills include:

  • Strong technical knowledge of tax regulations and a keen interest in the asset management industry.
  • Experience in both corporate and partnership tax compliance.
  • A proven track record of leading projects with a focus on quality and timely delivery.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Familiarity with relevant software tools.
  • Experience in coaching and developing junior staff.
