Senior Digital Forensic Analyst

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced digital forensics professional to join our team at Essex Police and Kent Police. As a Senior Digital Forensic Analyst, you will be responsible for leading digital forensic investigations, managing a team of digital forensic practitioners, and ensuring compliance with internal and external quality standards.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in computer and mobile phone hardware, software, and operating systems, as well as recent experience within a digital forensics environment. You will be responsible for developing digital forensic strategies, allocating cases, and balancing workloads to ensure efficient and effective processing of cases.
You will also be required to supervise, coach, and motivate the team, manage collective and individual performance, and participate in recruitment and selection. Additionally, you will be responsible for undertaking personal caseloads, providing expert advice, and preparing and presenting evidence in court.
The ideal candidate will have excellent technical ability, knowledge of digital devices, and the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. You will also have the ability to manage a high caseload and utilize coaching methods to provide a supportive and constructive environment for the team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop digital forensic strategies for examination, allocate cases, and balance workloads to ensure efficient and effective processing of cases
- Supervise, coach, and motivate the team, manage collective and individual performance, and participate in recruitment and selection
- Undertake personal caseloads, provide expert advice, and prepare and present evidence in court
- Collect and extract digital evidence using standard operating procedures in support of criminal investigations
- Provide advice and assistance to officers and staff concerning the proportionate extraction of digital data
- Balance technical attributes with good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Requirements:
- Strong background in computer and mobile phone hardware, software, and operating systems
- Recent experience within a digital forensics environment
- Excellent technical ability and knowledge of digital devices
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to manage a high caseload and utilize coaching methods to provide a supportive and constructive environment
Working Pattern: The Senior Digital Forensic Specialist role is shift-based, with a 6-week pattern of working 1 weekend in 6. You will also be part of the Bank Holiday on Call Rota between 0800 and 2000.
Salary: The salary for this position will be dependent on which home office force you are appointed to.
