About Astute People:
Astute People's Nuclear team is partnering with a leading company in lifecycle construction and operations for the Utilities and Infrastructure sectors. We are seeking a qualified Senior Quantity Surveyor to work on site at a major nuclear station.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee change management through CEMAR, ensuring compliance with contractual deadlines and regulations.
- Ensure timely preparation of Monthly Applications for Payment in line with contract conditions and industry standards.
- Provide commercial advice to the site team and management on all contractual matters, including risk assessment and mitigation.
- Draft and issue NEC3 subcontracts, ensuring clear communication of contractual obligations and expectations.
- Prepare internal contract valuations, accurately assessing project costs and progress, and identifying areas for improvement.
- Prepare monthly cost and value reports, presenting insights to senior management and stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, the managing QS, and engineering disciplines to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Compile and present forecasts at meetings, contributing to data-driven decisions and proactive risk management.
- Assist Contracts Managers and operational teams with sound commercial advice, leveraging industry expertise and best practices.
- Guide and mentor junior commercial team members, promoting professional growth and continuous learning.
- Manage projects to maximize opportunities and minimize risks, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- Qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
- Ability to manage multiple schemes and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Experience working within the construction sector, with a focus on lifecycle construction and operations.
Desirable Skills:
- Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- The ability to work well under pressure, and to deadlines, with a focus on quality and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- The ability to obtain security clearance, as required.
Compensation Package:
- Salary up to £70,000 DOE, depending on experience and qualifications.
- 25 days holiday plus Bank Holidays, rising to 28 days with length of service.
- Up to 20% combined pension contribution, with a focus on retirement savings and security.
- Opportunity to buy up to ten days' holiday and sell up to five every year, with a focus on work-life balance.
- Performance-related bonus of around 5%, based on individual and team performance.
