Violence Reduction Specialist

Corus Consultancy is seeking a skilled and dedicated professional to join our team as a Violence Reduction Officer. In this role, you will play a critical part in preventing and reducing crime in Lewisham by working with individuals who have mental health issues and are at risk of violence.
Key Responsibilities:- Assess and manage risk, needs, and provide support to clients in accessing appropriate mental health services.
- Develop and implement evidence-based interventions to reduce reoffending, utilizing current best practice and a knowledge of the trauma recovery model and restorative approaches.
- Facilitate service user access and engagement with required mental health services to support prevention and recovery.
- Develop individual re-integration plans to meet the needs of offenders, ensuring that needs identified are monitored through individual action plans and reviewed at regular intervals.
- Identify and engage with a network of agencies and services to support offenders in the community, focusing on addressing individual needs for education, training, employment, accommodation, and health support.
- Facilitate multi-agency meetings to manage risk and identify lead professionals for each service user, as appropriate.
- Provide advocacy and support to facilitate the personal and social development of service users.
- Ensure up-to-date records of client progress and prepare reports as required.
- Case manage service users within the community setting through a range of creative and timely interventions, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements, statutory national standards, local policy, and protocols.
- Knowledge of criminal justice legislation, particularly the Crime and Disorder Act, and related fields, including ETE, housing linked to criminogenic need.
- Knowledge of equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice and their importance in working with perpetrators and victims in a risk-based environment.
- Knowledge of good practice in the support and resettlement of perpetrators and support for victims, including knowledge of different mental health concerns and contributing factors that lead to deterioration in a young person's mental health.
- Ability to engage effectively with victims, perpetrators, and their families.
- Ability to assess needs and provide effective interventions.
- Strong skills in case management, excellent communication skills, and strong risk assessment and risk management skills.
- Experience in working with young people with mental health concerns, delivering interventions to address resettlement needs, and liaising with statutory and non-statutory agencies.
- Excellent experience working in a multi-cultural setting and implementing, monitoring, and reviewing programs.
- Sensitivity to the needs of victims, perpetrators, and their families.
- Creativity and innovation.
- Self-motivation and ability to work on own initiative.
