Specialist Study Skills Tutor

Beacon Support Ltd. is seeking a Specialist One-to-One Study Skills and Strategy Support Tutor (ASC) to work with Higher Education students. This role offers flexible hours to work around you, while making a difference to students' educational experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with students with Autistic Spectrum Conditions on a one-to-one basis to develop learning strategies and improve study skills.
  • Act as a facilitator to help students become independent learners and overcome barriers to learning.
  • Use an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) to support students' educational needs.
  • Provide thorough induction training and staff development to ensure tutors are equipped to support students effectively.
  • Participate in a dynamic CPD programme with regular training events, including ADHD and ASC training.

Requirements:

  • Teaching qualification
  • NAS 6 modules and NADP Working Effectively with Autistic University Students course
  • NAS 6 modules and in-house/other accredited training for autism in HE
  • A relevant degree/PG cert (Autism)/Masters (Autism/Disability)

About the Role:

This is a specialist role, requiring substantial experience of working with students with ASC on a one-to-one basis and in an educational/learning environment. An in-depth knowledge and understanding of autistic thinking and learning is essential, as well as an awareness of the strengths students on the autism spectrum can bring to a learning situation.
