About the Role: We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Plymouth, working on an initial 12-month contract. This role involves operating as part of the Strategic Infrastructure Business Unit, supporting clients in enhancing the capability, reliability, and availability of critical assets in the defence sector.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, with experience in managing technical design packages and providing subject matter expert advice. They will also have excellent communication skills, with the ability to manage designer performance and make technical management responses.

The estimated salary for this position is £90,000 - £110,000 per annum, depending on location and experience. This role offers a hybrid working arrangement with mostly remote work and onsite visits once a month.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing one or more technical design packages, agreeing project objectives and managing designer performance
  • Providing subject matter expert advice and ensuring design documentation meets project requirements
  • Identifying key factors and leading the project's technical planning process

The successful candidate will also ensure that staff and contractors are familiar with hazards and risks associated with their work through effective management.
