Join Wakefield Council as a Fleet Low Carbon Project Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fleet Low Carbon Project Manager to join our Transport Operations team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing policies, strategies, and plans to achieve the Council's technical and strategic ambition for Fleet Decarbonisation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Service Manager – Transport Operations in developing policies, strategies, and plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote sustainable transport.
  • Project manage and deliver a range of projects to reduce the overall carbon footprint of the Council's Fleet.
  • Collaborate with senior managers across the Council to adopt policies, strategies, and plans that promote low carbon thinking and sustainable transport.
  • Develop and implement programmes of activity to embed low carbon thinking and the principles of sustainable transport across the Council.
Requirements:
  • Hold a degree-level qualification in Automotive Engineering, Environmental Science, or a relevant discipline, or equivalent level qualification.
  • Project management qualification (e.g. APM or Prince 2 methodology).
  • In-depth knowledge of procurement and contract management principles and processes.
  • Evidenced understanding and track record of effective resource management and staff development principles and practice.
  • Evidenced understanding of the role of multi-agency partnerships in delivering Fleet Decarbonisation related projects.
