About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our team at Brook Street Social Care. As an HLTA, you will play a vital role in supporting and guiding young people aged 10 to 18 who are in secure accommodation due to court proceedings or for their safety and the safety of others.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 support for young people with additional learning needs across the curriculum.
  • Plan, deliver, and assess learning activities in consultation with curriculum leads.
  • Lead a team of care practitioners to support the daily lives of young people with complex needs and challenging behaviors.
  • Actively engage with and mentor young people, helping them develop both academically and personally.
Requirements
  • Strong IT skills (MS Office, email, internet, and database programmes).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively both in a team and independently.
  • Experience working with challenging behavior in a residential or educational environment.
  • A commitment to restorative and trauma-informed practices.
  • A Level 4 qualification in education delivery (or commitment to achieve it).
  • A solid understanding of child and adolescent development, child protection, and safeguarding policies.
